I'm Jennifer Taylor and I thank you for taking the time to visit A Sacred Education. It is my hope and prayer that you find the support you need on your homeschooling journey.
I had the unique experience of receiving a Christian liberal arts education from Milligan College, whose philosophy of education states, “We begin with the confident declaration that all knowledge is ultimately unified, brought into being by a Creator. Because knowledge is unified, we can see the connections between history, literature, the arts, philosophy, and the Creator of all these disciplines.”. This formative philosophy laid the foundation for my life in education.
Upon receiving a BS in biology, I went on to obtain a Master of Education degree from Milligan. With over fifteen years of teaching experience, I have held teacher licensures in Tennessee and Colorado. I have taught at the elementary level in rural, inner city and suburban communities. After becoming a mother of three I continued to teach as a substitute teacher and tutor, including children with severe special needs. I discovered Charlotte Mason when my eldest child was approaching school-age. Mason's works convinced me to begin homeschooling my three children using her philosophy of education. I have spent nearly a decade studying Mason's works and applying her methods in our homeschool. I have since founded Aspen Grove Educational Community, a community that exists to support homeschooling families using a Charlotte Mason education. This largely takes place through a weekly co-op where families gather to study a CM based curriculum and through a monthly book study group, CM in the Rockies, where we discuss Mason's six volume book series, Home Education. I am a regular attendee of the Charlotte Mason Institute national conference and am honored to be a speaker at the Charlotte Mason Educational Retreat in Colorado. My passion is teaching children of all ages using Miss Mason's methods and supporting homeschooling families in this approach through study and community.
I enjoy hiking, gardening and nature walks with my family. Singing sacred music feeds my soul. Seeking out quiet moments for contemplation and reading keeps me balanced. My booklist is a mixture of english literature, theology, poetry and spirituality. My most favorite things are long talks and traveling with my husband. We all live in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Monument, Colorado.
